Shop Review: “It's not often you hear the guys at
Constellation express delight at their Nottage Hill Chardonnay - as they are
with this vintage. It's mainly sourced from the Riverland with some Padthaway
fruit adding a dimension to the flavor profile. There are some gentle, spicy
oak aromas while the mid-palate is full flavored and vibrant with intense, cool
white peach tropical characters and a soft, pleasant finish.” (Peter Forrestal,
Quaff 2009)
My Review: After the lackluster Merlot from Nottage
Hill, I was not expecting much from this Chardonnay. Sure enough, it had an unappetizing wet wood
smell along with a mossy, damp earth taste that stuck in my mouth. This was a common theme with the other
chardonnays we tried at the Vintage Cellar that day too…
I tried this wine without food.
